It seems like yesterday when everything started while, looking back, it has already been 20 years. But what is our history? Make yourself comfortable and get ready to read because we are about to tell it all.

Sail Service’s story begins in 2002 in Marina di Ravenna when its founder Mario Berlati decides to leave his job because he wants to turn his passion into his new employment. A new business is born, and it targets sailing boat owners as well as sailing specialists such as shipyards, in terms of sailing equipment suppliers.

During the first years, the business was mostly focused on everything that regards the rudder. This happened thanks to the collaboration with the Danish companies Jefa Marine A/S and Jefa Steering A/S that, starting from the fourth quarter of 2002, gave us the exclusivity of selling their products in Italy. In the following years, we became rudder systems’ suppliers for many Italian sailboat builders, actively collaborating with a large number of shipyards and designers of these systems.

Starting from 2009, we have expanded our range of products and services thanks to the collaboration with the Danish company Furlerboom. They produce in-boom main furling systems and aim to deliver solutions and products that can guarantee a safe and agile sailing experience. We are now the official Furlerboom dealer for the Italian market.

In the next years, we expanded even further by selling some brands’ materials that are known worldwide such as Gottifredi e Maffioli, Selden, Wichard, Antal, Harken, and many more. Other specialties of ours are the definition of customized sailing plans together with their installation, the supplying of rigging and, last but not least, the designing of our removable bowsprit whose installation can be done on many sailing boats and, even, catamarans!

Finally, a year ago, in January 2021, we embraced the digital environment by opening the Sail Service online shop. It is a store that targets everyone who loves to sail and looks for the right sailing equipment for their sailing boat.
